Proud of Our People: Making a Difference in Our Community

At Orchid Development, being part of the Cayman Islands community means more than the work we do each day. It is also reflected in the time, energy and commitment our people give to the organisations and causes that help make our Islands a better place.

We are proud to recognise two members of the Orchid Development team, Samantha Peterson and Mariah Tibbets, who are currently making a meaningful contribution through their involvement with two important Cayman Islands organisations.

A record-breaking night for the Cayman Islands Humane Society

Our Executive Assistant, Samantha Peterson, served as Chairperson for the Cayman Islands Humane Society, dedicating her time and expertise to raise much needed funds to support the organisation and the animals in its care.

Samantha helped deliver the 2026 Furball Gala, one of CIHS’s major fundraising events. This year’s event was a tremendous success, with a sold-out ballroom welcoming 300 guests for an evening in support of the Humane Society.

The Gala went on to achieve record fundraising results, providing valuable support for CIHS as the organisation moves closer to opening the doors of its new shelter in West Bay.

Behind an event of this scale are months of planning, coordination and hard work. Samantha’s involvement reflects a significant personal commitment to a cause she cares deeply about, alongside the dedication of the wider CIHS team, volunteers, supporters and the Cayman community who came together to make the evening such a success.

Congratulations to Samantha and everyone involved in delivering a record-breaking Furball Gala.

Going behind bars for Cayman’s heritage

Meanwhile, our Financial Controller, Mariah Tibbets, is taking on a rather different fundraising challenge – going behind bars for a good cause.

Mariah is participating in the Cayman Islands National Museum’s Jail & Bail fundraising campaign, helping to raise funds in support of the Museum and its important role in preserving and sharing the history and heritage of the Cayman Islands.

The campaign sees participants put themselves “behind bars”, calling on friends, colleagues and the wider community to help them raise their bail through donations.

Mariah’s fundraising is still underway, and we are delighted to be cheering her on as she works towards making bail while supporting an organisation that plays such an important role in safeguarding Cayman’s story for future generations.

Proud to have them on our team

Samantha and Mariah’s efforts are wonderful examples of how individuals can use their time, skills and enthusiasm to make a difference beyond the workplace.

We are incredibly proud to have them as part of the Orchid Development team and to see them contributing to causes that support two very different, but equally important, parts of our Cayman community – animal welfare and the preservation of our Islands’ heritage.

Congratulations, Samantha, on an outstanding and record-breaking Furball Gala, and good luck to Mariah as she works to make bail!

We’re proud to be cheering you both on.
